The two-day Telangana State-Level Bamboo Workshop, jointly conducted by the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty—Telangana (SERP) and Industree Foundation, recently concluded in Hyderabad. District-level functionaries from across the state were part of the workshop that kick-started the implementation of the DAY-NRLM Bamboo Subsector initiative in the state, which targets to reach 75,000 small and marginal women farmers in the next four years.

Technical sessions conducted as part of the workshop provided key insights into bamboo species and cultivation, the market potential of bamboo, bamboo processing, collective enterprises, certifications, and carbon credit, along with a guided walkthrough of the bamboo product experience center.

The workshop concluded with an engaging closing session attended by the Hon’ble Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), SERP CEO Ms. Divya Devarajan, ITDA POs, Additional collectors, and several department heads.

Over the two days, the workshop witnessed active participation from over 120 attendees representing 32 districts, including DRDOs, Additional DRDOs, DPMs, and key officials from various departments such as MGNREGS, Forest Department, and the Horticulture Department. The workshop served as a platform for technical knowledge sharing and charting a path for impactful initiatives in the bamboo subsector, focusing on small and marginal farmers in the state.
