Industree has signed an MoU with SERP Telangana to implement the bamboo subsector initiative under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. The MoU aims at improving the livelihoods of 75,000 women farmers, focusing primarily on the tribal regions of Telangana.

The initial phase of the project will focus on five districts: Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayshankar Bhupalpally, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and Adilabad.

Following a very successful state-level workshop, held in Dec 2024 and extensive technical scoping studies covering 5 districts, district and mandal level technical training were completed in January 2024.

Interdepartmental collaboration and convergence is a distinct feature in Telangana driven by the leadership of SERP which makes the initiative exciting for us! The District Collectors lead the efforts with the close collaboration of the ITDAs, NREGS, and the Forest and Horticulture Departments. We are confident that 5000 women farmers will be planting Bamboo in this coming monsoon season!

The Bamboo plantation effort is getting integrated under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Telangana with the department facilitating the procurement and supply of quality planting material as well as costing covering activities related to land preparation and irrigation in their annual action plans. Furthermore, the horticulture department will expand its nurseries to include the propagation of 50 lakh bamboo saplings in the next 3 years.
